HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Over 25 years ago, Velu, a fisherman from Auroville, found a broken surfboard washed ashore. After watching a tourist surf, he was mesmerized. Using boat resin and a coconut rope leash, he restored the board—and unknowingly began a lifelong adventure. That moment sparked his journey into surfing, leading to the founding of Aloha Surf India and a deep, enduring love for the ocean.
Having spent his life on the water, surfing transformed Velu’s bond with the sea into one of freedom, mindfulness, and respect. Teaching himself to ride waves, he discovered not just a passion, but a calling—to share the joy of surfing with others.

The Start of Aloha Surf India
After helping establish one of North Goa’s first surf schools, Velu set out in search of a quieter haven in the south.
In 2014, he discovered Agonda and, together with his friend Poorna, founded Aloha Surf India—South Goa’s first surf school.
Their vision was simple yet powerful: to build a warm, inclusive surf community where everyone feels welcome, safe, and inspired to ride their own wave.
Over the years, Aloha Surf India has grown into a vibrant, ever-evolving family—shaped by surfers, friends, and free spirits from around the world.
